A gas sensor having a structure for fixing a sensor main body to a sensor attachment member using an attachment screw member. The gas sensor is capable of reliably attaching a protective cover. The gas sensor has a sensor main body having a built-in sensor element therein and a cylindrical attachment screw member rotatably disposed on the outer periphery of the sensor main body, and is attached to a sensor attachment member having a female screw that screws together with the attachment screw member and a bearing surface provided at the leading end of the female screw. The sensor main body has a flange part that protrudes outwardly from the leading end side of the attachment screw member. The flange part is sandwiched in the axial direction by the sensor attachment member bearing surface and the attachment screw member. The attachment screw member has a protective cover fixed further to a base end side than a male screw that engages with the female screw. The protective cover covers the outer periphery of at least a portion of a region of the sensor main body disposed further to the base end side than the sensor attachment member. |
