A HUD 1 with image source 3 for generating a composite image comprising a first and second image and an image splitter to separate the first and second images from the composite image. A first imaging assembly is arranged to project the first image to a first eyebox (or head position box) EYE1 to produce a first virtual image VIMG1 and a second imaging assembly is arranged to project the second image to a second eyebox EYE2 to produce a second virtual image VIMG2, where the first and second eyeboxes are located at different positions. The HUD 1 may be used in a vehicle V, where the virtual images VIMG1, VIMG2 can be displayed for the driver and a passenger forming a dual or multiview system. The imaging assemblies may include imaging mirrors, which may have a spherical, aspherical or freeform surface, light guides, fold mirrors and optical combiners. |
