577,470. Valves. STEVENS, A. H. (Gibson Electric Refrigerator Corporation). Dec. 7, 1943, No. 20440. [Class 135] A valve suitable for use in a refrigerating system comprises a piston member 21 that is a tight fit in a cylinder 13 placed in a socket 12 and held in position by an end cap 14, jointing material 16 being placed between the parts. The valve controls several fluid paths and radial ports are connected by longitudinal ports in the cylinder to connections in the cap 14. A rod 24 attached to the bellows 22 is connected to the piston valve 21 by a pin 36 that is a loose fit to allow for misalignment between the' parts. The upper part of the bellows is loaded by the pressure of the refrigerant and the lower by a pressure responsive to a temperature. Arms 27, 28 are pivoted to the rod 24 and separated by a spring 35 and carry rollers 31, 32. Wedge-shaped elements 33, 34 are secured to the casing and co-operate with the rollers 31, 32 so that under the action of the bellows, the valve. snaps to one of two positions.
