The present invention provides a novel Lactobacillus strain isolated from kimchi. A particular Bacillus strain according to the present invention is very safe since the strain is isolated from kimchi, and has various functionalities, such as excellent anti-obesity activity, blood cholesterol lowering activity, blood triglyceride lowering activity, or anti-oxidative activity. Therefore, the particular Bacillus strain according to the present invention can be used as an ingredient for a food and drug material useful to prevent, alleviate, or treat diseases, such as obesity, fatty liver, type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia, cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, and lipid related metabolic syndrome. Further, a product obtained by fermenting soybeans, Codonopsis lanceolata, ginseng, and Cornus officinalis seeds with the particular Bacillus strain according to the present invention or an extract thereof can also be used as a food and drug material useful to prevent, alleviate, or treat obesity or obesity-related diseases. |
