A method of manufacturing biometric RFID devices comprises producing a plurality of biometric identification devices, 402, that are each adapted to receive an RFID module, 440a, 440b, the module comprising an RFID chip and a tuning capacitor, 410a, 410b. The biometric device (e.g. a fingerprint scanner) comprises an antenna, 409, and a socket, 434, arranged to receive an RFID module. An RFID protocol is selected and an RFID module corresponding to the selected protocol is installed into the biometric device. Each biometric device may contain two sets of terminals, 436a, 436b, each set of terminals is arranged to operate with a different type of RFID module. The first set of terminals, 436a, may be arranged to connect with RFID modules configured with RFID protocols which operate at 13.56 MHz, while the second set of terminals, 436b, may be arranged to connect with modules configured with RFID protocols which operate at 125 kHz. |
