A chain lubricating apparatus 200 comprising a sprocket 201 arranged to rotate about a hub 240 which is arranged to receive a lubricant, LUB, and a gas, GAS, input. The mixture of the gas and the lubricant is formed in the hub 240 and the mixture is output from a hub outlet 243, at mixing site 900. The sprocket comprises a plurality of teeth arranged to engage with the chain, and a sprocket channel having a sprocket inlet 113 at one end and a sprocket outlet 111 at an opposite end thereof. The chain lubricating apparatus is arranged so that, in use, the mixture is delivered through the sprocket outlet 111 to a specific part of the chain when the sprocket 201 is in a particular angular configuration with respect to the hub 240 whereby the sprocket inlet 113 at least partially aligns with the hub outlet 243. The travel path of the lubricant and gas mixture contains as few bends as possible to ensure the best delivery of the lubricant mixture. |
