A roof access hatch comprising a cover 16 that has first interior 22 and exterior 20 metallic surfaces spaced apart by a first insulation layer 24 and having at least a first thermal break 10 spanning the insulation layer and in contact with both the first interior and exterior surfaces. The hatch further comprising a frame 18 supporting the cover, the frame having second interior 62 and exterior 60 metallic surfaces separated by at least a second insulation layer, and a non-metallic, thermally insulating gasket 56 disposed between the second metallic interior and exterior surfaces and the first metallic interior surface. The thermal break may have first (12a, figure 2) and second (12b, figure 2) metallic heat conducting portions that are substantially parallel to each other, separated by at least one thermally insulating portion 14. The hatch may also comprise a second thermal break component (32, figure 4). |
