PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save power of a communication device.SOLUTION: In a communication system, an optical line termination device 1 comprises a sleep setting unit 13 which stores parameters for determining transition timing between a sleep state and an active state in a gateway device 2; a state calculation unit 14 based on the parameters and transmission time at which a frame is transmitted to the gateway device 2 for determining whether the gateway device 2 is in the sleep state or the active state; and a frame processing unit 15 for transmitting the frame to the gateway device 2 when the gateway device 2 is determined to be in the active state while causing a buffer 11 to store the frame when the gateway device 2 is determined to be in the sleep state, and reading the frame from the buffer 11 after a predetermined time period has elapsed, for example, and transmitting the frame to the gateway device 2. |
