PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality determination device capable of determining generation of compression release during normal operation of an engine in which combustion is performed.SOLUTION: An electronic control unit as an abnormality determination device for an internal combustion engine includes a calculation section for calculating angular acceleration α of a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine, and a determination section for determining generation of compression release. The calculation section of the electronic control unit calculates the angular acceleration α during operation of the engine (step S110). When the angular acceleration α is a negative value in an expansion stroke (step S120; YES) and the angular acceleration α is continuously lowered until a determination time period elapses from a compression top dead center TDC in the expansion stroke (step S130; YES), the determination section of the electronic control unit determines that the compression release is generated (step S140). |
