[Class 122 (v)] A rubber oil seal washer a, which may bestiffened at its outer periphery by an annular metal insert b, is formed with a flexible sealing flange c in which a garter spring d is permanently embedded. The garter spring may be non- adherent to the sealing flange and wholly embedded therein, or adherently bonded to and partially protruding from the flange. In all cases the garter spring may be occupied by rubber. The seal may have two such sealing flanges and may be of internal or external type.
