A water turbine generator housing comprising a slip ring 11 for conducting electricity from the turbine to a cable 15. The housing features an opening on its lowermost side, which permits partial flooding of the housing, while the slip ring is positioned in a dry head space of the housing. The housing may also comprise bearings 13 to permit the housing to rotate about the vertical axis and bearings (30/34, figure 6) to permit the internal components to rotate. The turbine may be a tidal turbine. Also disclosed is a socket with engaging portions that are moveable relative to the socket wall, and a socket and male engaging member with engaging portions comprising a leading portion and a bearing portion. |
