PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a demanganization method which can remove manganese efficiently from e.g. a scrap steel sheet by improving an oxidation reaction.SOLUTION: The demanganization method is for removing manganese from a steel material so as to obtain spherical graphite cast iron by melting a steel material to serve as a cast iron raw material and includes a steel material cooling step of cooling a steel material heated to a specified temperature, an oxide film formation step of adjusting the cooling conditions in the steel material cooling step to form an iron oxide film on the surface of the steel material, and a melting step of melting the steel material formed with the iron oxide film on the surface in the oxide film formation step so as to oxidation-remove manganese. |
