PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method to a base material capable of beautifully coating with a thin film at a high speed.SOLUTION: Multilayer coating liquid is transferred to the base material by supplying the multilayer coating liquid to a rotating applicator roll with a die coater and making the applicator roll contact with the continuously traveling base material. At this time, before it is transferred with the applicator roll, the same coating liquid as that which forms a bottom layer on the applicator roll is precoated with a coater to the base material. After precoating, the applicator roll carries out transfer to the base material while rotating in the inverse direction of the base material at a contact part with the base material while the precoated coating liquid on the base material is in a liquid state. The multilayer coating liquid becomes μ1<μ2 when the viscosity coefficient of the coating liquid that forms a bottom layer on the applicator roll is made to be μ1 and the viscosity coefficient of the coating liquid that forms an upper layer on the applicator roll is made to be μ2. The multilayer coating liquid remaining at the applicator roll without being transferred to the base material is removed from the applicator roll. |
