摘要 538,751. Screw-and-nut mechanism. TINNERMAN PRODUCTS, Inc. Oct. 29, 1940, No. 15808. Convention date, July 26. [Class 80 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXV, XXII and XXXVI] A nut comprises a one-piece sheet metal body having a bend providing opposed spring arms 22, 23 shaped at 24, 25 to engage a screw. If the frictional engagement of the screw and nut is inadequate to provide locking, a screw 30 may be provided screwing into raised tongues 32 on one of the arms. As applied to push-button tuning, the nut has a bent-down end 21 with a pressed out spring tongue 29 to provide close guiding in a slot 8. The nut is mounted on a screwed part 15 of the push rod 10 that is returned by a spring 12 as limited by a washer 14. The part 21 engages a rod 4 carried by arms from a rock shaft 5 having a lever 6 linked to the tuning member of the radio set. Fine adjustment is made by turning the knob 11. Applications for adjusting headlamp reflectors and carburetter throttle valves are illustrated. the part 21 of the nut being shaped according to the member to which it is like connected. Instead of the tongues 32 other thread engaging means, e.g. a tapped boss may be employed. The nut is made from a spring steel &c. blank, Fig. 5 cut from the strip. The hole 31 and the tongues 32 are punched and the tongues 29 cut and offset. Thread elements 26, 27 are stamped by the dies that form the curved parts 24, 25. The nut is completed by bending on the dotted line and by bending the tongued end to the required angle for mounting.
