The flow unit (1) comprises a guide element (3) and a brake element. The guide element (3) has a hollow main body having a guide element entrance (31) and a guide element exit (32) and has a jacket surface formed by a guide surface (33). The brake element has a hollow main body having a brake entrance (21) and a brake exit (22) and has a jacket surface formed by a brake surface (23). In an operation state, an exhaust gas can flow into the guide element entrance (31) and flows out to the outside through the brake exit (22). The guide surface (33) is configured and arranged with respect to the brake surface (23) to allow entering the brake surface (23) at a previously definable brake angle (>0) and allow a shear layer of exhaust gas to be formed on the brake entrance (22). In addition, the present invention relates to an exhaust gas purification system having the flow unit and a method for the exhaust gas purification system.
