摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter that transmits at high speed and has large capacity without increasing its size while securing highly reliable communication of an existing optical submarine cable communication system.SOLUTION: An optical transmitter comprises: a monitoring device 32 which gives and receives information on whether there is a PSCR in a wavelength combination device 4 or not and PSCR speed obtained from a maintenance controller 5; a monitoring control unit 320 which variably sets the length of an FEC frame depending on the information on whether there is a PSCR or not and PSCR speed given and received from the monitoring device 32; and an FEC unit 313 which sets transmission data to the FEC frame with the length set by the monitoring control unit 320. Because the optical transmitter comprises a control function that can communicate with error-free correction by variably setting the length of the FEC frame depending on the information on whether there is a PSCR or not and PSCR speed, an optical transmitter can be obtained that transmits at high speed and has large capacity without increasing its size, while securing highly reliable communication of an existing optical submarine cable communication system 1.
