608,349. Automatic firearms. HEPPERLE, E. Feb. 20, 1946, No. 5355. [Class 92 (ii)] The triggermechanism of an automatic firearm comprises a pivoted locking member 6 adapted at 5 to engage and hold the breechblock 3 against forward movement, the member 6 carrying a pawl 10 which can be actuated by the trigger mechanism to move the member to the unlocking position and which, when the trigger is released, is engaged by the breech-block to move the member 6 back to the locking position. For the latter purpose the pawl and member 6 have co-acting faces 10a, 6a, which, when the pawl is engaged by the part 21 of the breech-block, contact to enable the pawl to move member 6 to the locking position shown against the action of a spring 8. Release of the breech-block is effected by an arm 15 of a trigger lever 12, this arm serving to depress the pawl against the action of a spring 11 and, when faces 6b, 10b, of member 6 and the pawl contact, to move member 6 to the unlocking position. A safety catch may be provided for locking the pawl against pivotal movement and thereby preventing the gun from being fired. Specification 461,230 is referred to. |
