586,301. Golf balls. SCHOEN, H. Dec. 22, 1944, No. 25823. [Class 132 (ii)] A golf or like ball is composed of rubber or like material 1 in which are embedded helical pieces 2 of spring wire or other metal shorter than the diameter of the ball. It is made by packing disintegrated rubber or the like and the helical wires into a two-part mould, shaped to produce the usual protuberances on the exterior of the ball, together with a binding agent, and with or without a hardening agent or a vulcanizing agent or both, and subjecting the whole to heat or pressure. If not done during moulding, vulcanization may be carried out afterwards.
