The humidifier has a heat exchanger (3) that is arranged inside the water reservoir (4). The heat exchanger is arranged on the primary side as a condenser in the refrigerant circuit of a heat pump while the secondary side is connected to a vapor distribution pipe (6). The heat exchanger is formed of the heat pump as a plate heat exchanger or tubular heat exchanger coaxial heat. The water reservoir is provided with steel level control.
