[Class 52 (i)] [Also in Groups XV and XXV] A filing cabinet comprises a casing 1 in which is mounted one or more filing containers 2 adapted to be swung from a storage position wherein one side 11 of the container serves as a closure for an opening in the vertical face of the casing, through 90‹ to an access position in which a substantial part of the container is still located within the casing, such swinging movement being obtained by providing a pair of links 22, 23 at each end of the container pivoted to the casing at 27, 28 and to the container at 25, 26 respectively. In its storage position, the container is located vertically and horizontally by the links 22, 23 respectively, and in its access position these functions are reversed as shown in Fig. 2. The side 12 of the container has a slot 17 to receive a follower member, and the sides 11, 12 are joined by end members 13 curved along their edges 4. The ends 13 are recessed to receive the links, such recesses having extensions 19, 20 the sides of which constitute stops to limit the movement of the links and therefore of the container. Blocks 30, 31 fixed to the casing are shaped also to act as stops for the links. Resilient members 41 and blocks 38 with inclined faces 39 ensure the correct positioning of the container when it is moved into the casing, and another inclined face 40 on each block 38 arrests the outward movement. The links 22, 23 cross one another and are suitably recessed to allow of this. |
