An oil separator improves a collection efficiency of oil with a small diameter of about 1 µm contained in a blow-by gas. An oil separator (10) includes a housing (12) forming a flow passage of the blow-by gas, and defining an annular shoulder face (42) facing a downstream side; a valve member (36) disposed inside the flow passage, and movable such that an end face thereof abuts against and separates from the annular shoulder face; a spring device (40) for urging the valve member to close; and a reflux device (22) for refluxing oil separated from the blow-by gas to a crank chamber. A gap (B) between the end face of the valve member and the annular shoulder face in an open position of the valve member is always narrower than the interval (A) between a side face (54) of the valve member and the wall face of the flow passage regardless of a flow volume of the blow-by gas. |
