An implantable vascular filter includes a support element 12, a first flexible filtering element 22 and first and second coupling elements 18, 20 at first and second ends of the support element for coupling to a retrieval device. The first flexible filtering element has a first end attached to the support element and a second free end, and is able to be configured into any of a radially expanded filtering configuration, a first collapsed configuration, and a second collapsed configuration. The first filtering element is biased into the filtering configuration when in a deployed condition, and is collapsible from the filtering configuration into either of the first collapsed configuration or the second collapsed configuration. The filter may include a second filtering element 24. The filtering elements may be in the form of wire coils when in the filtering configuration and may be straight or elongate when collapsed. |
