PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article management device which facilitates attachment of code information to an article.SOLUTION: An article management device comprises a reading mechanism 6 for reading article information indicated on a medium of an article W as coded information, an imaging mechanism 7 for imaging characters indicated on a surface of the article W, a character information identifying unit for identifying information relating to the article W which is indicated on the surface of the article W as characters on the basis of image information provided by the imaging mechanism 7 as display character information, a generation unit for generating encoded code information corresponding to the article information and display character information, and information attachment equipment 4 for attaching code information to the article W by recording the code information in the medium. |
