A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus and a magnetic resonance spectroscopic method using the magnetic resonance imaging apparatus are provided. The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus comprises: a data collection unit obtaining reference data of reference substances, and obtaining measurement data of a target region of a subject; and a processor determining at least one reference substance of the target region among the reference substances, and a concentration of the reference substance, using the reference data, the measurement data, and an external factor compensation value reflecting an external factor affecting the measurement data.
