<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a culturing medium for detecting a Gram positive coccus, capable of promoting the proliferation of a bacterial species set as an isolation objective, while inhibiting the proliferation of fungi considered to coexist in a sample, and a method for detecting the Gram positive coccus by using the same. <P>SOLUTION: This culturing medium for detecting the Gram positive coccus contains (a) a benzimidazole-based antibacterial substance and (b) a β lactam-based antibiotic.
