A hemming sewing machine comprises needles and a fabric pressing plate; a needle plate having a needle falling part; a fabric transferring mechanism transferring fabric towards a specified direction intermittently; a bend needle forming a double linked ring stitching trace; a cutter mechanism arranged closer to the upstream side of the fabric transferring direction than the needle plate; and a fabric foldback guiding member arranged closer to the upstream side of the fabric transferring direction than the cutter mechanism. During the period when the fabric foldback guiding member is used to arrange the end of a stitching start part of the fabric into a state of being folded back towards the inner side or during the period of time from when the foldback state is set to when a specified number of stitches is reached, the end cutting position of the fabric end of the cutting mechanism is enabled to move relatively with respect to the fabric end butting face part of the fabric foldback guiding member in the direction orthogonal to the fabric transferring direction, thereby enabling the foldback width of the fabric end to be smaller than a specified width temporarily. Therefore, no partial exposed part can be generated in the inner side fabric end of the stitching start part of the fabric and the excellent-quality hemming sewing can be conducted in a reliable and highly efficient manner. |
