PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for processing a metallic material, by which the metallic material can be processed while controlling the projecting length of a probe by a simpler method than a conventional method.SOLUTION: In a processing method for processing stainless steel materials 101, 102, by rotating the tip of a bar-shaped rotating tool 10a while bringing the same into contact with a processing part 103 of the stainless steel materials 101, 102, the rotating tool 10a is provided with a probe 11 projected from the middle part of the tip of the rotating tool 10a and the stainless steel materials 101, 102 are processed while controlling the projecting length 13 of the probe projected from the tip of the rotating tool of the probe 11 by changing the load F to a processing part 103 of the rotating tool 10a and the rotational speed R. In this way, the metallic material is processed while controlling the projecting length 13 of the probe by a simpler method than conventional methods. |
