PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for specific labelling and detection of a target in or on a sample of a biological specimen and subsequently removing the detection moiety in order to provide reversible labelling and/or enable further different labelling and detection cycles.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method for detecting a target moiety in a sample of biological specimens by: a) providing at least one conjugate having an enzymatically releasable degradable spacer, where the detection moiety and an antigen recognizing moiety are covalently bound; b) contacting the sample of biological specimens with at least one conjugate, thereby labeling the target moiety recognized by the antigen recognizing moiety; c) detecting the target moiety labeled with the conjugate with the detecting moiety; and d) enzymatically degrading spacer, thereby cleaving the detection moiety from the conjugate.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
