The present invention is a printer provided with: a first roller for conveying a backing sheet; a printing unit for printing information on a print medium temporarily affixed to the backing sheet that is conveyed by the first roller; a second roller, which assumes a first position when printing in a first print mode and, when printing in a second print mode, assumes a second position for peeling the print medium from the backing sheet by being rotated by the rotation of the first roller; a sensor, which is a light-reflecting sensor for specifying the position of the second roller and has a light-emitting part and a light-receiving part that line up vertically when the printer 1 is placed on a horizontal surface; and a sensor housing for housing the light-receiving part. Of the sensor housing surfaces, the surface facing the light-receiving part is provided with an opening on the end towards the light-emitting part and is provided with a light-blocking part on the end opposite to the light-emitting part end. |
