The present invention relates to a method for detecting the cell camp-on and camp-off of a mobile terminal for a zone based service in a mobile communication system. The tracking area update request processing method of the mobile terminal is improved. Thereby, a base station directly and simply detects the small cell camp-on and camp-off of the mobile terminal without a help from a core network, that is, without a separate NAS message under the small cell environment of the mobile communication system. So, an effective zone based service can be provided. The method includes a step of transmitting a random access preamble message, and a step of transmitting a scheduled transmission message.
