PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for cleaning nitrogen oxides, that exhibits an excellent effect in removing the nitrogen oxides in a comparatively low temperature range of ≤250°C, which are hardly removed by the conventional catalyst, among diesel engine exhaust gases, and that hardly causes a trouble such as sulfur poisoning and raw material procurement, and that is very economical and has high practicability.SOLUTION: A cleaning material absorbs/removes nitrogen oxides in a diesel engine exhaust gas. The cleaning material is configured such that an inorganic pellet containing a manganese-based catalyst is disposed on the upstream side of an exhaust gas passage and a porous pellet comprising siliceous shale having ≥100 m/g specific surface area as a main material is disposed on the downstream side thereof. The weight ratio of the inorganic pellet to the porous pellet is 2:8 to 8:2. |
