The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display. More particularly, the present invention relates to a liquid crystal display capable of increasing the control over the direction of a liquid crystal molecular. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the liquid crystal display includes: a substrate including a light transmitting region and a light blocking region adjacent to the light transmitting region; a thin film transistor disposed in the light blocking region and including a source electrode, a drain electrode, and a gate electrode; a first insulating layer disposed on the drain electrode and including a contact hole for exposing the drain electrode; a pixel electrode disposed on the first insulating layer and connected to the drain electrode through the contact hole; and a protruding portion disposed on the pixel electrode. The pixel electrode includes: a stem portion disposed in the light transmitting region; a plurality of branch portions located in the light transmitting region and connected to the stem portion; and an extension part disposed in the light blocking region to extend from the stem portion or the branch portions. The protruding portion overlaps the extension. |
