The present invention provides an apparatus and a method for controlling a street lamp. The street lamp control apparatus operates a street lamp only when the amount of traffic is present through communications between a vehicle and a street lamp system in a highway by using V2I communications. According to the present invention, the apparatus comprises: a vehicle approaching determination unit for determining whether or not a vehicle approaches to a predetermined point; a lighting target selection unit for selecting at least one lighting target street lamp based on a position of the vehicle; and a street lamp control unit for illuminating the lighting target street lamp. |
