When a motor vehicle is steered, as turning reaction forces from the road surface, for example, rearward (Y2) radial loads (R1 and R2) are applied from rear wheels (6L and 6R) to corresponding end portions (181 and 182) of a steered shaft (18) via corresponding knuckles (25L and 25R) and corresponding tie rods (24L and 24R). A motor vehicle steering system (9) includes first and second counter load application mechanisms (41 and 42) that apply counter loads (F1 and F2) against the radial loads to the corresponding end portions (181 and 182) of the steered shaft (18). Each of the counter load application mechanisms (41 and 42) includes a motion conversion mechanism that converts torsional motion of the corresponding end portion (261 or 262) of an axle beam (26) caused by a ground contact reaction force of the corresponding rear wheel (6L or 6R) via the corresponding knuckle (25L or 25R) and a corresponding king pin (27L or 27R) into, for example, forward (Y1) motion of the corresponding end portion (181 or 182) of the steered shaft (18). |
