592,236. Conveyer chains. WEBB CO., J. B. Dec. 5, 1944, No. 24323. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1943. [Class 24] In a conveyer chain comprising a series of slotted links 15 each connected to an adjacent link by a pair of side bars 17 and by headed locking pins 16 which connect the ends of a link and a pair of side bars, the latter are constructed as forgings from which only sufficient of the interior flash has been removed to provide apertures for the locking pins. The remaining portion of flash 21 is curved longitudinally of the side bar to increase structural strength and to guide the teeth of the sprockets. The apertures 22 for the locking pins taper as shown. The flash may have a drainage hole 24 and strengthening ribs 23 at its ends. The side bar is provided near its ends with notched portions to receive the heads of the locking pins and the middle portions of the end shoulders 25 may be removed to reduce the contact with the heads of the pins. |
