PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely focus onto a point of fixation without detecting the direction of visual line.SOLUTION: An image of a pattern formed from two-dimensional dot light displayed on the display surface of a chart display panel 190 on which the real image of a sample 181 imaged by a camera section 188 is formed onto a surface in conjugation with the display surface 190a of the display section 190 with respect to an eye piece lens 183, thereby projection it onto an observation eye 184. A pattern image which is light returned from the retina Re of the observation eye 181 is imaged by an imaging sensor, and the size of a dot light image near a retina center Fo extracted from the imaged pattern image is measured. On the basis of the size, a lens moving section 191 moves the eyepiece lens 183 in the direction of an optical axis, and the display surface 190a and the retina center Fo are made in conjugation with each other. Further, the focusing position of the camera section 188 is controlled in synchronization with a change in the focal distance of the eyepiece lens 183, thereby carrying out focusing with respect to a point fixed by the observation eye 184 on the sample 181. |
