A safety device, for fitment to a tap spout or a tap fitting, comprises a cylinder of foamed material that is closed at one end and open at the other end, with a longitudinal slit in the cylinder extending from the open end thereof. The foamed material may be a resilient closed cell material. Preferably the closed end of the cylinder is afforded by a cap attached to the foamed material. The device may be produced as a one-piece plastic moulding, with the closed end of the cylinder afforded by part of the one-piece unit. A method of improving safety using the claimed device is also included. |
