Apparatus for providing a horizontal platform when attached to sloping supports

The apparatus comprises a pair of brackets adapted to fit on a sloping support member 18, each bracket comprising an engagement member for connecting with a bar 20 such that when the brackets are connected to the support members the bar provides a generally horizontal platform. The engagement member comprises at least one bolt and a backing member such as a nut. The bar may have a plurality of holes for receiving the bolt. The bolt may have a handle and may be formed integral with the backing member. The bar may have an L-shaped cross section and may be formed from steel or aluminium. An elongate member may extend above the bar. The backing member may comprise a second bar. A construction building method including the use of a bar fitted to brackets to provide a horizontal stand is also claimed.
