[Class 120 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] In a thread guide traverse mechanism for artificial silk spinning-machines producing thread packages, thread guides are connected with the actuating piston of a liquid pressure engine (see Group XXIX), the length of travel of which is controlled by cam means so as to control the form of the thread packages. As shown, thread guides 36 on carrier rods 31, 35 are connected by wires 29, 32 to reciprocating piston rod 28, springs 33 being interposed between wires 32 and piston rod 28 to obviate intermittent motion due to play in the working parts. The length of stroke of piston rod 28 is controlled by the cooperation of pin 41 and fork 40, the position of the latter being controlled by cam 51 which may be operated manually by handle 54 or automatically via driving gears 55, 56. Bobbins 1 may be driven via shaft 4 and worm gears 3 or in the reverse direction via shaft 6 and worm gears 5.</p> |
