[Class 20(iv)] Non-slip floor, &c., treads comprise short sections 10 of material in slideways formed by outwardly extending horizontal flanges 13 of adjacent metal bars 12 secured to the floor. Or the flanges may be struck out from a base plate covering the floor, &c. For a stairway a nosing 19 for the edge is provided by the end bar 12a. The treads may be secured to a wood or soft rubber base which is engaged in the slideway. Instead of inverted T-form the treads may be shaped with a recess 24 to provide a cushioning effect, and each bar forms a slideway with inwardly bent flanges 22. Near each end of the tread the end section is screwed in position or held by a stop. The slideways may be arranged in curves or irregular formation. |
