The invention relates to an apparatus for closing a composite packaging (P) which is filled with an incompressible fluid product and is formed by a cylindrical shell, wherein the apparatus can be operated cyclically and comprises a plurality of processing stations (1, 6, 7, 8, 9) arranged one after the other, of which one processing station (8) comprises a pressing device (12), by means of which the fold overhangs (11) created during the closing process can be pressed against the base surface of the packaging (P), wherein the pressing device (12) is arranged such as to be able to move in a substantially perpendicular manner relative to the base surface. In order to ensure a secure and stable connection of the fold overhangs (11) forming a portion of the packaging base to the packaging base and reliably to prevent damage even to individual laminate layers of the composite packaging, it is provided according to the invention that the pressing device (12) has at least one damping device (18, 18') or at least one damping element (18"). The invention also relates to a use of the aforementioned apparatus for packaging foodstuffs, particularly aseptically filled foodstuffs. |
