A mounting system for mounting an object, such as a digital display device, to a vehicle roof, such as a taxi cab, is provided. The mounting system comprises an attachment mechanism having a first end configured for attachment to a roof strut 50 of the vehicle and a second end configured for attachment to an object, such as the digital display device (100 figure 7), located above the vehicle roof. When the attachment mechanism is attached to the object and to the vehicle roof strut, at least a part of the attachment mechanism passes through the vehicle roof such that the vehicle roof is located between the two ends of the attachment mechanism. This enables the weight of the object to be transferred through the vehicle roof strut and not to the roof of the vehicle. The mechanism may comprise an upper member 30 and lower member 20 pivotally attached (74) to each other so that object, attached to the upper member, may move with respect to the roof and thus not apply undue stresses thereto. The roof strut may be an existing strut, or one retro-fitted specifically to carry the mounting system. |
