[Class 82 (ii)] In a method of producing a selenium coating on a member, hydrogen selenide is heated to a temperature sufficient to decompose it into hydrogen and selenium, the selenium being deposited on the member and the hydrogen being allowed to escape. As shown, the hydrogen selenide may be decomposed by passing it over an electric heater 6 within a chamber 1 to raise its temperature to 150 to 500‹ C., the selenium being deposited on a steel plate or plates 15 suspended above the heating source and the hydrogen escaping through an aperture 16 in the chamber.</p> |
