Embodiments of the present invention provide a data transmission apparatus and method. The method includes: receiving, by a base station, a downlink data packet sent by a core network device; sending, by the base station, a first downlink data packet in the downlink data packet to user equipment UE, and sending a second downlink data packet in the downlink data packet to a Wireless Fidelity access point wifi AP by using an Xw interface, so that the wifi AP sends the second downlink data packet to the UE, where the base station manages a wifi radio resource by using the Xw interface. The data transmission apparatus and method provided in the embodiments of the present invention can resolve a problem of low radio resource utilization during a data transmission process in the prior art. |
