[Cla,-,.q 52 (ii)] A back-rest c for seats is mounted so as to be adjustable in height and to be freely rockable about both horizontal and vertical axes. The back-rest support a is provided with notches i, a selected notch being engaged by a projection h on a plate d pressed by a spring g. The plate d has projections d<1>, d<2> passing through slots in a staple b secured to the back-rest c, so that the height of the back-rest c may be adjusted by pushing inwards the extension d<2>.
