[Class 84] In a device for use in assembling teat cups, a tool for trimming a liner to length, a tool for inserting the metal ring in a liner and a tool for stretching a liner that has been inserted in its casing are mounted upon a common support and operated simultaneously by the movement of a foot - lever. As shown, the stationary parts of the tools are supported by arms 2 on a tubular standard 1 and the movable parts are connected by arms 4 to a slidable rod 3 within the standard operated by a foot-lever 6 against a return spring 5. The trimming tool comprises a rotatable knife holder 11, carrying a length gauge 12, and a roller 9, attached to a bracket 4a connected to one of the arms 4. The knife holder is connected by a helical spring 14 to a collar 15 which is rotated to press the knife against a liner on the roller 9 and locked in position by a grub-screw, the depth of cut being limited by a roller adjacent the knife. The roller 9 is rotated by an attached pinion 10 engaging a fixed rack 8 when the lever 6 is operated. The tool for inserting the ring is generally similar to that described in Specification 302,929, [Class 84]. A sliding collar 19 carries pivoted arms 20 for expanding the end of the liner over the ring placed on the upper end 18 of a fixed support 17. The arms 20 are provided with studs 20a for limiting the depth of insertion of the ring and are returned to normal position by an elastic ring 21. The stretching tool is similar in principle to that described in Specification 270,316, [Class 84]. A tube 24 carrying the expander 25 slides on a fixed rod 23 having a wedge-shaped upper end. The liner is retained by locking cams 28 on a gallery 27 on the upper end of a slidable cylinder 26. The cylinder and tube move down together until the latter is stopped and the former continues to move against a spring 29 to effect the stretching of the liner. On the return stroke, a stud 26a lifts the expander off the wedge end of the rod 23, allowing it to contract and release the liner. A tool 32 for folding back the end of the stretched liner over the end of the teat cup, similar to that described with reference to Fig. 3 of Specification 287,572, [Class 84], is suspended above the stretching tool by the extended central bar 30, to which the expanding arms 31 are hinged.
