<p>An adhesive composition comprises chlorinated rubber-like material to which is added a polyalkylene polyamine of the formula NH2-(CR2-CR2-NH)n-CR2-CR2 -NH2 in which R independently in each occurrence may be hydrogen or a methyl, ethyl, or propyl group, and n is an integer from 1 to 4. The basic material may be a chlorinated polymerized chloroprene or butadiene, or copolymerized butadiene and styrene, butadiene and acrylonitrile, or the like. The polyamine is preferably one in which n is 3 or 4, and R is mainly hydrogen, e.g. tetraethylene pentamine or pentaethylene hexamine. Up to 3 per cent of the polyamine may be added. The chlorinated substance is preferably dissolved in an aromatic solvent, e.g. toluene, benzene, or the like, but methyl ethyl ketone or methyl, ethyl, propyl, or butyl acetate, propionate, butyrate, or lactate may be used. Preferably, the polyamine is added to the base material a relatively short time before use, or if desired, the surfaces to be adhered may be coated first with the base and subsequently subjected to the action of the polyamine. Specification 600,989 is referred to. The adhesive can be used for bonding natural or artificial rubber to metals, plastics, textiles, paper, fibre board, or other rubber-like material, particularly where solvent-resistant properties are required.ALSO:An adhesive composition comprises chlorinated rubber or like material to which is added a polyalkylene polyamine of the formula NH2 - (CR2 - CR2 - NH)n -CR2 - CR2 - NH2 in which R independently in each occurrence may be hydrogen or a methyl, ethyl or propyl group, and n is an integer from 1 to 4.
