490,975. Endless - track vehicles. JACKSON, L. MELLERSH-. (Marmon-Herrington Co., Inc.) Oct. 8, 1937, No. 27426. [Class 79 (i)] The load is transmitted to the endless track 13 by a pair or pairs of rollers 23 carried by diverging arms 21 coaxially pivoted on the vehicle body, the two arms of a pair being interconnected by a rubber annulus 19 bonded thereto, in such manner that a swinging movement of either arm relatively to the other torsionally stresses the annulus. In the construction shown each arm 21 is fixed to a hub 17 independently journalled at 16 on a pin 15 mounted in a bracket 14 on the vehicle. Each hub 17 has a metal tube 18 fixed thereto, and the rubber annulus 19 or two rubber annuli is or are bonded to the tubes 18 and to a single floating tube 20. When load is applied to the rollers the arms 21 rotate relatively to each other and stress the rubber annulus torsionally. Each hub 17 is provided with an upstanding arm 24 carrying a rubber buffer 25, these buffers limiting the spreading of the arms 21. The hubs 17 are shouldered on their bearings 16 so as to prevent axial movement and relieve the rubber annuli from axial stresses. In a modification the inner ends of the hub sleeves 17<1> abut against a thrust ring.
