A propulsion device for a ship (1) includes a port propeller (10L) and a starboard propeller (10R), a rudder (40) disposed at a center (C) in a vessel widthwise direction, and shaft brackets (13R, 13L) installed in front of the port propeller (10L) and the starboard propeller (10R), respectively, and configured to rotatably support propeller shafts (12R, 12L) of the port propeller (10L) and the starboard propeller (10R), wherein a distance between a front end of a propeller blade of the port propeller (10L) and a front end of a propeller blade of the starboard propeller (10R) at the center (C) in the vessel widthwise direction is larger than 0 m and equal to or less than 1.0 m, and a rotational direction of the port propeller (10L) and the starboard propeller (10R) becomes an outer track rotating outward from the center (C) in the vessel widthwise direction over the port propeller (10L) and the starboard propeller (10R). |
