Vertical lathe

The lathe has a vertically-arranged workpiece spindle (3) comprising a workpiece retainer (4) at a lower side, and a tool spindle i.e. integrated motor spindle, arranged on a spindle support (8) that is rotatable around a horizontal pivot axis (9). The workpiece spindle is moved along a movement direction (X) that is aligned parallel to the direction of the pivot axis. A workpiece supplying and delivering station (14) is arranged adjacent to the spindle support in the direction of the pivot axis. The spindle support has two pivot bearings that are arranged on the tool spindle.
